Philanthropy

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Each year, Kappa Delta Phi NAS has a different philanthropy. Every chapter has the opportunity to propose a philanthropy to the entire sorority at our National Convention. From there, we discuss and vote on which philanthropy to adopt.

This year, we have adopted the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and preventing suicide through research funded by donations, education and advocacy. This organization believes that educating people about mental illnesses can be a big impact to also raise awareness on suicide.

National Suicide Prevention Week

September 9th - September 15th

During this week AFSP dedicates all their time educating people about suicide. They talk about the warning signs someone could present and what to do. They discuss all the resources offered for people who need help, and how friends and families can recover from losing someone to suicide.

Please reach out for help if someone talks about being a burden on friends and family, feeling trapped, has "no reason to live" or talks about suicide. Shows behaviors of increased drug/alcohol use, reckless and irresponsible behavior, distancing themselves from activities, and aggression.
